Here are some tips to help you obtain and shop for health insurance:

• Rates for insurance are determined by your age and your zip code of residence. No matter what site you go through, including the carriers themselves, the rate for a particular plan will be the same.
• As of Jan 1, 2014 all Individual and Family Plans are "guaranteed to issue", no one can be turned down due to medical issues.
• In order to obtain a subsidy, if you are eligible, you must go through the "Exchange". You can also "shop" for coverage by clicking on Instant Quotes on our home page. Rates are same as going through "Exchange". Applications through this site take about 7 minutes, through the "Exchange" about 40 due to the amount of financial information being needed to determine eligibility for subsidies
• The same plans are offered in the "Exchange" and outside the Exchange and the rates are the same. As before the rates are the same whether going through and agent or direct.
